Every smile, every breakthrough, every milestone at ROCK starts long before a participant enters the arena. It begins with a horse that’s been groomed, an arena that’s been prepared, and a dedicated volunteer ready to walk beside them.
Those volunteers—our ROCKateers—are the heartbeat of ROCK.
Each week, they give their time, energy, and compassion to ensure every class is safe, meaningful, and life-changing. They lead horses, sidewalk with participants, prepare equipment, care for our herd, welcome families, and tackle countless behind-the-scenes tasks. Their dedication makes it possible for children, adults, and veterans to experience the independence and confidence that grow through partnership with the horse.
But our volunteers can’t do it alone.
That’s why we created the Boots in the Dirt Club—a community of monthly donors committed to investing in the people who make every miracle possible.
Your monthly gift provides the dependable support needed to recruit, train, equip, and recognize our ROCKateers. From volunteer education and safety training to essential materials and appreciation events, every dollar helps ensure our volunteers have everything they need to continue changing lives.
The value of their service is extraordinary. According to the Independent Sector and the Do Good Institute, one volunteer hour is now valued at $36.14 nationally, which saved ROCK over $900,000 last year. Yet the encouragement, hope, and confidence a ROCKateer gives to a participant are truly priceless.

$10- Can help support the Equine Assistance Team.
Dedicated ROCKateers work on a regular basis mucking stalls, washing troughs, cleaning the feed room, and other tasks to ensure a clean and healthy living environment for our horses.
$25 – Can provide support to the Participant Support Team.
Horse Handlers and Side Walkers undergo extensive training to learn how to support our participants in a safe manner. These ROCKateers attend training classes from 5 to 20 hours to become qualified to work with our horses, providing support to our participants.
$50 – Can cover cost to help support the Equine Support Team.
Our horses love to be loved and love to look their best. Our Equine Support Team provides grooming and bathing so they can maintain a clean and neat appearance. These ROCKateers also spend time providing love and general exercise for our horses.
$100 – Can help support our Facilities Support Team.
Our dedicated ROCKaters maintain our sixty acres for the safety of our horses, staff, and volunteers. They repair fences, paint buildings, and handle minor facility repairs.
