This year, beginning February 17, we welcomed the Year of the Fire Horse — a rare pairing that hasn’t occurred since 1966. The Fire Horse is said to usher in powerful change and meaningful breakthroughs, and it is associated with traits like heart, courage, energy, trust, determination, freedom, leadership, resilience, spirit, gratitude, strength, and legacy.
At ROCK, we couldn’t imagine a better way to celebrate this inspiring year than by honoring 12 of our horses — one each month — highlighting the unique trait each so beautifully embodies.
In the month of March, we are proud to recognize the true embodiment of courage: Yana.
Yana came to ROCK with a background as a polo horse—a role that required both athleticism and courage. Transitioning into Equine Assisted Services meant adjusting to a much different pace, but she quickly found her stride and developed a strong connection with our participants.

During her time at ROCK, Yana has shown incredible courage and determination on her own journey. After being diagnosed with Uveitis—a condition that causes chronic inflammation in the eyes and can affect vision—she has continued to move forward with strength and resilience.
With the support of our veterinarian, staff, and dedicated volunteers, Yana has adapted beautifully, continuing to serve our participants with grace, heart, and a truly courageous spirit. Just as our participants must overcome obstacles, some of our herd must overcome obstacles as well.
We are truly thankful to Dawn Jones for donating Yana; she has truly been an incredible addition to our herd.
Yana is a beautiful reminder that challenges don’t define the end of a journey—they simply shape a new path forward.
