This year, beginning February 17, we welcomed the Year of the Fire Horse — a rare pairing that hasn’t occurred since 1966. The Fire Horse is said to usher in powerful change and meaningful breakthroughs, and it is associated with traits like heart, courage, energy, trust, determination, freedom, leadership, resilience, spirit, gratitude, strength, and legacy.
At ROCK, we couldn’t imagine a better way to celebrate this inspiring year than by honoring a ROCK horse (or horses) — each month — highlighting the unique trait each so beautifully embodies.
In the month of April, we are proud to recognize the true embodiments of energy: Princess Fiona and Sherwin Williams.
Princess Fiona and Sherwin Williams are two Welsh Cross ponies that came to ROCK together from the Bluebonnet Rescue. Ever since they stepped hoof on the property, they have been nothing but lively and filled with pure energy. Fiona and Sherwin are quite the bonded pair and truly enjoy running around the pasture and arena together.
In the short time they have been at ROCK, they have participated in a parade and multiple community events! They were even our greeters at our recent 20th Annual Barn Dance, “It’s About Time”. They bring so much joy to kids and adults alike and manage to excite everyone they meet.
With their arrival, they will help fill the roles that our miniature horses, Peggy Sue and Shimmer, hold. This includes participating in our summer camps for leading practice, going to community events, and partnering with Equine Assisted Activities like groom care. Peggy Sue and Shimmer are now 26 years old, and it was important to us to always honor them as they have honored us over the past 24 years they have been with us. We are so appreciative of these sweet horses and admire them for their strength and guidance- and now we look forward to giving them a happy retirement and passing the torch off to Princess Fiona and Sherwin Williams.
The definition of energy is the strength and vitality required for sustained physical or mental activity. Anyone who has spent time with Princess Fiona and Sherwin Williams knows that this definition feels written for them. Their energy is constant, their spirit unwavering, and the strength they share naturally extends to everyone around them, leaving people feeling encouraged, uplifted, and inspired.
Princess Fiona and Sherwin Williams remind us that the energy we bring to life matters—because it’s not the challenges that define the journey, but the strength, spirit, and determination we choose to meet them with.
