$1,000 Donation and Supplies from Chloe's Pet Corral

At just 14 years old, Chloe has already spent six years leading Chloe’s Pet Corral, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting animal shelters and animal-focused organizations throughout Central Texas. What began as a third-grade community service project has grown into an official 501(c)(3) nonprofit, inspiring both her community and other young people to get involved in service. This year, Chloe raised $1,000 for ROCK along with bountiful supplies!

Chloe explained that the idea for Chloe’s Pet Corral originated after a lesson from her third-grade teacher about giving back to the community. Combined with her lifelong love of animals, the lesson inspired her to take action.

“My 3rd grade teacher, Ms. Pruitt, gave us a lesson about giving back to our community. I’d always really liked animals, and so I decided to make Chloe’s Pet Corral.”

In its first year, the organization collected physical donations for local animal shelters, including organizations in Williamson County and Safe in Austin. The success of that first drive motivated Chloe to continue and expand the effort each year.

As Chloe’s Pet Corral grew, she began looking for additional organizations to support. She learned about ROCK through a connection in a local Rotary Club and felt it aligned well with her mission.

“I wanted to start expanding where we were donating to, and I decided that ROCK would be a great fit.”

One of the biggest milestones for Chloe’s Pet Corral came this year when it officially became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

“The first year, I never would have thought that I would become an official nonprofit. It’s such a huge accomplishment to me and I’m happy about it.”

Chloe credits much of the organization’s growth to support from her family. Her mother helps with social media, while her grandfather assisted with the nonprofit process and website development.

Each spring, Chloe organizes donation drives at Great Oaks Elementary School and Cedar Valley Middle School, both in the Round Rock Independent School District. Donation boxes are placed around the schools, and students are encouraged to contribute needed items.

This year, Chloe partnered with the National Junior Honor Society at Cedar Valley Middle School to create friendly competitions between homerooms, rewarding top contributors with prizes such as donut parties.

In addition to physical donations, Chloe’s Pet Corral now accepts online donations through an Amazon Wishlist and monetary contributions.

Although Chloe is still exploring future career possibilities, she knows she wants to continue leading Chloe’s Pet Corral for years to come.

“I really hope that I’m able to continue this for as long as I’m physically able to, because I love doing Chloe’s Pet Corral. I hope that it continues growing year after year and hopefully we can expand to help different organizations.”

When asked what she has learned through the experience, Chloe emphasized the importance of community involvement and making it easier for people to help others.

“I’d say giving back to the community.”

“I think that provides an easier way for people to help in their own way.”

She also shared that seeing others create their own service projects has been especially rewarding.

“People have taken my idea and started their own version of it—and I think that’s really cool.”

Chloe’s mother, Jessica Harlow, spoke proudly about her daughter’s servant heart and commitment to helping others.

“She loves to advocate for others, and she loves to serve others. She always puts others before herself.”

She added that Chloe’s passion for helping others extends far beyond animal welfare and has shaped how she approaches challenges in the world around her.

While physical donation drives are primarily held each spring, Chloe’s Pet Corral continues accepting monetary donations throughout the year.

Her message to others is simple: find ways to help, get involved, and make a difference in your community.
