We are so grateful for your support of the ROCK Barn Dance — which lasted over a year. Planning by our Barn Dance Chairs, Wendy Prindle and Kelly Clark of Life Styled Events, began in the fall of 2019. They chose the theme of Yellow Brick Road, based off the Wizard of Oz. Little did we know that the Yellow Brick Road of 2020 would have so many winding turns.
With Embree Group of Companies, H-E-B Tournament of Champions, and Sport Clips leading the way, the sponsors and donors helped support us through the COVID-19 shut down, and into the reopening in June. Our Barn Dance on Saturday, September 26, was successful and fun as Chet Garner of The Daytripper led us on the last leg of the journey. Thank you to Calao Wealth Management for being the Man Behind the Curtain sponsor and stepping up to make this virtual event happen.
Two weeks ago we started our fall session with 84% of families participating. Your gifts to Barn Dance will make this continue as individuals receive this life changing interaction with the horse.
We have seen a lot this year: COVID-19, civil unrest, and even challenges of nature with hurricanes and fires. This week we lost a strong woman, Ruth Bader Ginsburg. One of her quotes was, “Real change, enduring change, happens one step at a time.“
And how true that is.
When the horse moves and takes a step, lives are changed.
In the past 22 years, I have seen a young boy say his first words while riding a horse. We have seen a child with autism give his family his first hug, after riding a horse. And I have seen a person who wanted to commit suicide choose not to. The movement, the steps, and the connection with the horse changes lives.
This all happens because of the steps each of you have taken, When you give of your time, talent, and treasure to ROCK……..you are stepping along side the horse to change lives.
I am grateful beyond belief. This year has given me more courage, and heart, and even knowledge from knowing that the ROCK family really cares about each other. Thank you for this year and for your support on Saturday night.
