First and foremost, thank you for considering ROCK as the beneficiary of your fundraising efforts. Volunteering to share your story and why ROCK matters to you is already a tremendous gift.
By harnessing the power of your personal network, YOU make it possible to share ROCK’s mission of improving independence and life skills in partnership with the horse with hundreds of your friends and family members who are eager to support what matters most to you.
Ready to start a Facebook Fundraiser? Here’s some tips & tricks to make your campaign a success!
1. Head to Facebook
Go to facebook.com/fund/ROCKRideOnCenter and Facebook will automatically start a fundraiser for ROCK. If for some reason it doesn’t automatically pop up, press the blue “+ Raise Money” button to get started.
2. Set Your Goal & End Date
In this first box, you will pick a fundraising goal and end date. Although our big push will come on Giving Tuesday Now (May 5), we suggest using May 8, 2020 as your end date to give people a few extra days to donate. Select “Next” when ready.
What should my fundraising goal be?
One of the beautiful things about Facebook Fundraising is you don’t have to aim big to make an impact. Of course, if you think you’re ready to dream big, we’ll be here to support you!
The other thing to remember is that small amounts add up quickly. You would only need 30 people donating $5 each to reach a goal of $150. If you increase each donation to $10, that number drops to just 15 people to reach your goal. Here a some ongoing needs at ROCK and the amount they cost.
What It Takes to Run ROCK
Supporters will often wonder how their donation will be used. Here’s just some of the ways a donation could be used to help ROCK thrive.
- $5: Bag of shavings (We use over 700 bags/year!)
- $10: Square Hay Bale (We use over 700 bales/year!)
- $13: Bag of Feed (We use over 800 bags/year!)
- $25: New Halter
- $40: Hoof trim for a horse (All 31 of our horses need this every seven weeks)
- $50: New Helmet (We purchase about 10 helmets/year!)
- $85: Round Hay Bale (We use over 100 bales/year!)
- $100: Financial assistance for tuition for four riders
- $500: New Saddle
- $750: Volunteer training day (ROCK usually conducts 12 training sessions/year!)
- $3,600: Sponsor a horse for a year (Includes full horse care and letters of thanks from the horse)
- $5,400: Sponsor one veteran to attend three 8-week ROCK On Veteran classes
3. Tell Your Story
On the next page, you will pick a Title for your fundraiser and can enter a little bit about why you’re helping us raise funds. We encourage you to use “Pony Up For ROCK” in your title and enter #GivingTuesdayNow and #PonyUpForROCK in the description to help people find your fundraiser. Select “Next” when ready.
Make It Personal & Explain the Impact
Remember, this is your place to shine. Use this space to talk about what brought you to ROCK or why you share our mission and vision. Your friends and family are eager to support causes that matter to you!
We also suggest helping people understand how their donation can make an impact. Use the numbers from above to tell your friends and family how their donation will help be used. Still not sure what to say? Feel free to use one of these stories to get you started!
It’s time to #PonyUpForROCK! I’m raising money for ROCK Ride On Center for Kids as part of #GivingTuesdayNow. My goal is to raise $200, and I need your help.
Why $200? This amount of money could provide financial assistance for tuition for 8 participants. Please help me support ROCK’s mission to improve independence and life skills in partnership with the horse by giving what you can. On behalf of ROCK, thank you!
Dear Friends and Family,
As you probably know, one of my favorite pastimes is volunteering with ROCK Ride On Center for Kids. ROCK provides equine-assisted activities and therapies to children, adults, and veterans with physical, cognitive, and emotional challenges. It takes a lot to run a barn so I’ve decided to #PonyUpForROCK and help raise $500 as part of #GivingTuesdayNow. With your help, this amount could help ROCK purchase a saddle for their therapy horses — and that’s just one of the many ways your gift could be used. Will you help me raise these funds and allow ROCK to continue to thrive?
Did you know that May 5 is #GivingTuesdayNow? I’ve taken the #PonyUpForROCK challenge and plan to raise $2,400 to support this organization that means so much to me and my family.
ROCK’s mission to improve independence and life skills in partnership with the horse has allowed my [child, spouse, family etc.] to thrive through the power of Healing Thru Horses. By raising $3,600 we can sponsor one of their therapy horses for an entire year! Will you help me support ROCK and raise these needed funds?
4. Pick Your Cover Photo
On the last page, you can upload a Cover Photo for your fundraiser. We’ve provided free artwork below you can upload and use for your campaign. Once everything looks good, press “Create” and you’re done!
