ROCK’s 17th Annual Barn Dance “25 Years of ROCK, Walk On!” on April 1st, 2023, was a night to remember. The event, which celebrated the 25th anniversary of ROCK, was a massive success thanks to the love and support of the community.
Every year, Barn Dance is a night of friends, fellowship, and delicious food, and this year was no exception. Guests were treated to the opportunity to see The Texas Jamm Band featuring members of George Strait’s Ace in the Hole band perform. Although George Strait did not show up, his son George “Bubba” Strait was in the house, and the audience was thrilled.
Emcees Dan Gattis and Chet Garner of The Daytripper provided an evening of laughter, a sense of belonging, and helped show the audience ROCK’s rich 25-year history and where we may go in the next 25 years. Doc Breen did an outstanding job raising awareness of the organization’s current needs as he shared his heart to help raise funds for the coming year.
Over 900 guests surpassed ROCK’s goal of raising over $500,000, which is about ¼ of ROCK’s annual operating budget. ROCK provides crucial services to the community, and the donation will go a long way in supporting our operations.
Dr. Krenek’s speech was a reminder of the importance of the work that ROCK does. The organization helps children, adults, and veterans with physical and cognitive challenges through Healing Thru Horses. The 114 children and 61 adults who received services last year, as well as the 186 veterans and their families, are eternally grateful to the community their generosity.
A particularly poignant moment occurred when ROCK burned the land note from 2018. This note burning ceremony marked an important milestone for ROCK, allowing us to become debt-free. The community partners who made this possible were present to witness the ceremony, making the moment even more special.
Thank you for supporting Healing Thru Horses and making a difference in the lives of so many. We are grateful for the continued love and support of the community and look forward to what the next 25 years will bring for ROCK.
